I could live with final set TBs at say 10-10 or 12-12 though I would prefer at the usual 6-6. I kinda prefer symmetry, and it may be a bit shortened excitement but can be a pretty dramatic conclusion.
I can see the point about extending the excitement, but then not until it becomes more "when will this ever end?" When you're getting towards 20-20 say I think most watchers will have gone long past excitement quite apart from it possibly so derailing the winner's chances in the next round.
The final may not have a next round and I know quite a few would like it to be a battle until someone finally gets that two game lead. Not for me, but I understand the viewpoint.

Sloane was incredible in that final set. She is a notoriously slow starter but Venus didn't take advantage - in fact mentally, she was on another planet. Picked it up in the second and then Sloane just zoned. Controlled, solid, quick, delicate at times - it really was incredible tennis and certainly 2-3 steps up from her match against Sevastova.
And Madison, well, take a bow. Perfection in the first set and solid in the second (by that point Colleen really had lost it mentally). Curious time to take an MTO when within 10 minutes she was likely to have won and been off the court, but all credit to her for being cautious and still getting the job done.
I'm just hoping for a top quality match - very impressed with Sloane's new found maturity but ultimately, I was (and still am) a huge Davenport fan so I'm leaning towards Madison.
Delighted for Sloane. amazing comeback, I was worried that she would disappear when she really looked like she was not enjoying being a tennis player a couple of years ago. Seems like a lovely person too, sitting next to Madison whilst waiting for the trophy ceremony was a nice touch
In fact, I event thought of Laura during Coco VdW's interview - not that Coco has been long-term injured (that I know of) but simply when Coco said she'd won the US Open Juniors at 16, expected it all to come easily in adult tennis, and had really had to wait till age 25 for it all to click.
Me too, let's hope the remarkable progress of these 2 women since their injury absences can inspire Miss Robson somewhat especially with them being her contemporaries. I feel it does rather beg the question of why she couldn't have done better than she has these last 2 years.
Wasn't able to watch any of the final but catching up now with the reaction and what a lovely moment between Sloane and Madison at the net, it's great to see 2 pals genuinely happy for each other still laughing and giggling like a couple of schoolkids waiting for the presentation, and then Sloanes reaction at her cheque as well
They were worthy finalists, the best 2 players out there and it's good to see the good guys and lassies win for a change. When you compare these two girls to Sharapova and all the sniping and daft comments about Serena etc, the women's tournament has had a lot of feel good attached to it. Here's hoping Anderson can win the men's to round it off.
Jo's Road to Singapore cause helped slightly, in terms of points margin ahead of the finalists, by Sloane winning.
Providing she doesn't continue her current amazing charge for too long of course...
