I ll predict Jo through and Heather out so 5/6 Brits in R2. Women's draw is so open just now there are probably 15-20 contenders for the title, whereas in the men's even with injuries it's Nadal, Fed or Andy for me.
Poor start from Heather. Cornet looking confident and very solid - brick wall like. Heather gets a little frustrated if the rally goes past 7-8 shots and goes for too much.
1-2*
Very very impressed with Naomi Cavaday's commentary, she's excellent - clear, concise, evidence based and using all of her own experience in very relevant ways. Don't think I've been so impressed with a commentator - male or female. Go Naomi!
Heather just very frustrating to watch. You want so much for her but she's got to believe in her shots. Too many opportunities to be aggressive and dictate and she hesitates or backs off. I hope she can play her way into this match and start feeling more confident in her game.
Alize gifts Heather a break with a selection of poor shots.
Then Heather wastes several game points before throwing in back to back dfs to concede her serve 2-3*
Easy love hold for Alize *2-4
Another df makes it 0-30 but Heather comes to life with some big serving and aggressive ground-strokes to take the next 4 points 3-4*
Heather punishes a weak 2nd serve to bring up 15-40, nets a bh, before forcing the error after a long rally 4-4
Patchy quality in this match. Alize struggling to return 2nd serves yet Heather misses 3 chances to take the game, an awful drop shot lands midway up the net to concede bp then a backhand into the net costs her the break 4-5*
After a run of 3 points featuring at least one drop shot, it's 30-30 then Heather's f implodes on the final two points of the contest 4-6
--------
In summary, Heather's good spells never quite lasted long enough. Both players saw some decent aggressive shots land narrowly wide. Heather's serve not consistent enough, not enough first serves and too many dfs yet at times found some penetration on both first and second.

Heather was awful. I really hate to be so negative but I'm honestly not sure I've seen a worse match by her, and we've seen some doozies. No confidence in her shots, both wings were off, first serve % below 45%, at one point there were 4 DFs in a row. It is certainly one to forget.
I'm not sure where we go with Heather. I believe there is a top 20 player in there if she can believe in herself, flatten out the forehand so it doesn't sit up as much, and get into the net whenever she can. But it is largely mental. So many opportunities to dictate and there's no confidence to win the point. I'm not sure what Morgan is bringing to the table but she needs someone to get her to believe in herself.
It is only one match and perhaps there were issues off the court we're not aware of. I wish her all the best - hopefully she can finish the year strong and head into Australia with new found confidence.
Heathers match was painful to watch. Even when she broke back and could change the momentum she dumped her serve in the next game, Cornet was very average but was good enough to beat Heather who was shocking.
There sees to be no game plan bar getting the ball in court and hoping her opponent gifts her an error. It looks like the best of Heather was for a few weeks in June early July and that's it for the year.

Don't mean to bang on but that was something I neglected to mention about today's match + coaching - there appeared to be no game plan whatsoever.
