Pleased with that win. More important is just the fact that Marcus is there playing at all. Hopefully it means he is going to make a serious effort at claiming some ranking points and moving up the ladder, rather than just attending the "glamour events" for publicity and cash.
I hope so, not too much to do to get in the top 500, if he is selective stays fit and plays to his strengths he could reasonably expect to break 300 and then ... bit more of a push .... and if he looks the part .... he would be a popular Wimbledon MD WC. Fingers crossed it would be great to see him do well.
Marcus's CHs of 322 (singles) and 221 (doubles), both from 2014 when he had been moving in the right direction again with Gary and A1's help, are pretty ridiculous.
I don't agree with some who occasionally suggest he doesn't really have the talent to have gone / go a lot higher. To my mind he certainly has. Hopefully, but I've long past getting really caught up in maybe this time. He makes his choices ...
