Nice easy first up win for Maia.

She plays a WC or qualifier next, both of whom are unranked, but won't know until tomorrow which one.

The name Mihalikova brought to mind a young female tennis player i was following a few years back but annoyingly I can't remember her exact name. I think she was Scottish, could have been Anastasia surname beginning with M and sounding a bit Russian (?). She was doing well for her age group but I dont remember seeing anything about her for some time. Does anyone have a clue whom I might be thinking of and if so, what happened to her?

The name you are searching for is Anastasia Mikheeva, now 18 and indeed Scottish.

Don't know what's been happening with her though and would also be interested if anyone has info.

The two points here will take Maia up to a post US Open new CH probably in the 620s with still next week's Poland 15K to possibly add.

As it is this takes her to 36 points from a full 16 counters. She has certainly been busy this year so wondering where she stands with her studies.
