Young Ola (born 2001) is going great guns against the q5th seed, ranked about 700.

Currently leading 7-5 *3-0

Abou Zekry heavily overranked on account on playing in Sharm so often so a little misleading although still a great result.

Well done to Ola

Non ranked Brits adding any ranking points at all to even partially get on the ladder has been a very rare beast this year, in part undoubtedly due to the lack of home opportunities.

This is actually just the third tournament this year.

Previously Louise Holtum, Olivia Peet and Ola in each earning a point for winning a qualifying round in the Manchester 100K in June, so Ola now has two counters. Plus Tiffany William adding 2 points for qualifying for a Portugal 25K+H also in June to add to a one point counter from last year.

The older Pitak sister is nearly 19 so probably unlikely to become ranked based on her general results, although Pitak the younger only being 16 should be able to claim to be a tennis player with a ranking you'd imagine at some stage.

Well, I didn't give Ola much chance for this match, and still don't, but whatever else she does in the match she has given her opponent an early fright, since she has has won the first break. *2-1

I feared it might be as good as it got for Ola, it was!! She had chances to win other games, but failed to do so, so lost overall 2-6 0-6

You were right, Ola didn't have much of a chance. From 2-0 up she went on to lose 2 & 0

She did have two more BPs though... And there was at least one game I saw where she had two game points... but not to be though. biggrin Still in the absence of 15ks in the UK, as Indy noted, a good performance for Ola just to make the main draw.
