Ryan S got hammered in the first set in terms of points (19 points to 33). But in terms of break points was 0 for 4 (as opposed to the Turk who was 2 out of 2). So there were obviously some chances there.
He's now broken and is *2-0 up in the second....
Ryan P, on the other hand has just taken the first set 6-4, against Ed.
Pleased for Gil too, now 32 and ranked about 550, who took out second seed, Guez. Bet there was a huge cheer from the home crowd when that last point got called.
I know went to the ISP tennis academy in France at the age of 13.
Has been at the Uni of Memphis since autumn 2014 (I think). Others will know his college career a lot better but his name is always up there - think he was about 80th in the overall list last year.
(Played quite a lot of GB events previously. Bit of success, but not huge).
