Week 34 - Belarus F4 ($15,000) - Minsk (hard)

Well this has to be his best result for a while. Lloyd takes the 3rd and deciding set against Ilhan 6-2.

Fantastic serving performance.

Jonny is locked in a 2nd set breaker that he looks in deep trouble in.

Jonny G got the break back in the 2nd but lost the TB 7-4

Still time to turn this around again Jonny.

And a good chance, on the face of it, to reach the final:

SF:  (7) Lloyd Glasspool WR 495 vs (Q) Ivan Liutarevich (BLR) UNR (CH = 1138 last October)

That said, the Belarusian saw off Manafov (4) by 5 & 1 in the last 16 & Grenier (5) by 1 & 1 in his quarter-final...

My live scores showing Grenier as beating Liutarevich 1&1

Yep, pretty sure it's Hugo Grenier in the semis. The ITF site does it to tease.....:(

Mind you, Grenier is not a particularly scary prospect either.

I liked the look of Grenier when I saw him in Glasgow this year, potential Challenger level I was thinking

He did bear Jonny and Jay en route to the final. And he is only 21.

That's a cracking result for Lloyd, guys like Ilhan hiding away at a 15k though you've got to wonder why. Similarly Attila the Hungarian elsewhere.

He will certainly get up to MY definition of a challenger player. Not sure he'll get as high as yours

I agree he's got a decent game, technically nice and solid, as with so many French players. (Probably why Djoko chose him as a hitting partner at the O2 Masters event).

But he's not had great results this year - it's been steady, with some high spots, but hasn't really managed to move over to challengers and even the ITFs have been very mixed.

He is only 21 though CD, if he were a Brit we'd give him the leeway. He looked very fit as well, a key attribute to rising to my challenger grading and yours

You're completely right, Jaggy. My 'not particularly scary' was in relation to Grenier's form for tomorrow, for Lloyd's match. Not as a prediction as to where he'll be in five years time.
And, yes, definitely very fit. That goes with solid, in my view - so many unforced errors are caused by lack of fitness.
