So have Maia, Sam, Alicia, Laura D and Beth all got MWC ? They were all in the acceptance list for qualifying. I thought there were only 4 WC's, or has one or more of them withdrawn ?
They can't all have them - 4 at most. So at least one of them must have withdrawn. It's annoying that they don't put the WCs on the acceptance lists for women's ITFs any more, at least not until very late.
Still no sign of any WCM's on the list. They were actually there pretty promptly for Woking, I am sure a fair time before the qualifying draw came out.
Beth has a WCM. It's my guess is that is Maia who has withdrawn as she got a Woking WCM and none of the others did.
Well deduced. The main draw is out and 4 of the 5 mentioned do have WCs and the missing one is Maia. She is still down on the list for a Poland 15K next week.
The order of playfor Tuesday is now out, and provided the weather holds up I'll go along for a while. Can't get there in time for the first matches, but still plenty of Brits to watch
No Gabi or Freya, presumably to Jodie's benefit. Although as per recently with someone else no ranking points in a 25K for a LL unless she wins a MD round when she would then get the standard 5, 9 etc.
After qualifying and drawing the #2 seed last week Eden qualifies again and upgrades to the #1 seed.
The draw came up a few minutes after I last posted- pity two of our (initially four) direct acceptances ended up as late withdrawals, one drew the 6th seed and another drew a former top 75 player

Yes, whatever the reasons it's not going to motivate the LTA to run more of these types of tournaments... and it seems they are already not motivated to promote 15ks. Let's hope for one or two more pleasant surprises this week...

I'm pretty sure they've created the conditions for failure in the first place by cutting the number of UK tournaments so drastically. But yes, I wouldn't put it past the powers that be to take completely the wrong lesson from this and use it as an excuse to make things even worse.

All 16 first round matches on the schedule for tomorrow, plus all 8 doubles (seven involving Brits).
Definitely need more tournaments at the 15k level
Chiswick was a $10k two years ago, and there were 26 Brits in the first round proper, plus another 21 who didn't make it through qualifying.
Yes, as they are now these 25ks provide an opportunity for only a small handful of the higher ranked women - which is why it is a pity to see players like Gabi withdraw (after a promising start to the year, she seems to have had a much tougher time of late from the latter part of the grass season on). However, as 15ks, these types of tournaments would be providing a much greater range of opportunities to many more players seeking to come through, and provide the vehicle where a few might be able to do so.
