Sorry Jonny O, but decided against the drive today. Something to do with being up until 3.30am watching Kyle's semi final in Atlanta. No way I could get up early enough after that to make the journey.
If you're morphing into Bob-in-Brazil in a few days time, you've probably got a list as long as your arm of things you need to do too .....so you're forgiven (well by me, can't speak for Jonny O, of course )

If they had told me sooner about playing Segovia (which is 30 mins from Madrid), I could have organised myself to get there for a couple of days. I could have traveled up to Madrid on Monday, spent Tues/Weds at the tennis before flying out of Madrid to Brazil on Thursday. All too late for that now though.
So basically it's Jonny's fault I'm not there

L16: (1) Steven de Waard & Ben Mclachlan (AUS/JPN (*)) CR 271 (135+136) vs Scott Clayton & Jonny O'Mara CR 423 (197+226)
Blimey! Maclachlan hails from Queenstown, which is on the South Island of New Zealand, & lives in Kiwi-land, yet he's now playing for Japan. Wonder sort of financial scooby-do went on to persuade him to switch his allegiance?
Not great draw for Scott and Jonny considering they weren't far off being seeded themselves. The #3 and #4 seeds have CRs of 407 and 412 respectively.
Indeed only one pair in the draw has a CR more than 50 better than them and they draw that pair. Hopefully they can still show how they have really progressed.

As I guessed when I saw a picture of him, since confirmed by a tiny bit of digging, his mother, Yuriko, is Japanese, so there's nothing particularly odd about the switch.

The boys are a set up against the top seeds.
Interesting to see what Jonny decides to do regarding singles if he has a few good results in doubles at challenger level. His singles ranking will drop significantly next week.
