Cam is only the 10th different Brit to win an ATP Challenger singles title this century, it does indeed look like he'll break into the top 200 with this win (from 275 at the start of the week, taking out his old career high of 221) and while he may drop back a bit when his Aptos runner-up points come off next month, there's no longer any chance of those points dropping off taking him outside the top 300, as looked possible a week ago.
He is also the 3rd Brit to win the Binghamton title - the other two, Andy Murray in 2005 and Kyle Edmund in 2015 are now, of course, the GB top 2!

I think you would be very optimistic about the prospects of any college player who makes the top 200 within a year of giving up the books and going pro, to do so within a couple of months is stellar.
He did however look the best college player in the US by a distance this year and arguably the year before.
Only Cam knows but my impression was that from a tennis perspective he went back to try and deliver a team championship for TCU. Regardless College appears to have been a very positive experience for him.

Maybe not Oakland's "top 200 as a teenager" indicator but top 200 while still 21 and fresh out of college is doing pretty well.
A challenger title and US Open qualifying before he even won the final. And even some lessons to take away from within the final. Great week !
The top 200 as teenager is totally out of touch now, the average age of the top 100 is changing so much in the last 15 years. I'd say if you can be knocking on the door, at any age from between 21-24 (knocking on door definition is 100-160 rank). If you are ranked 250+ and are 25+ you might as well call it day though.

I think his progress since turning pro has been significantly better than say that of Jack Sock or Steve Johnson managed in their first few months out of college and I think most of us would be quite happy if Cam were to reach the sort of level the two Americans have so this bodes very well for the future.
I think Cam has probably confirmed himself as back-up singles player for DC now. If Andy misses a tie for any reason, Kyle & Cam will be playing singles.

Presumably GB's next tie is February 2018, so a long way to go I guess on that front, but agreed, right now Cam is up there as the First Reserve in waiting. Be interested to see what his doubles is like, any form on that front?
Yes the progress of both Cam and Jay this year is very exciting, with Kyle now establishing himself in the top 50 things have moved on significantly on the DC depth scale.

Calm down-
Evans will be back playing in 6 months and also Bedene will win his appeal, at that stage, Kyle will be lucky to get in the team.

Well, I hope you're right on the first two points, but not sure about the 3rd. Either way, more competition would be great.
