Week 30 - ATP 250 - BB&T Atlanta Open - Atlanta, GA (hard)

An excellent win. We forget Kyle is still relatively new to playing exclusively ATP events and part of being able to sustain that is wins against second tier servebots who need a bit of working out initially. They have a decent weapon or two that require a certain amount of acclimatisation and adjustment to neutralise. All part of Kyles incremental growth over the next 3-4 years.

Well, I gave up and hit the sack when the rain came last night so this is good news to wake up to this morning.

Opponent is now confirmed as Jack Sock in the QF.

QF: (5) Kyle Edmund WR 45 v (1) Jack Sock (USA) WR 19 (CH 14 Apr 17)

Sock (1) or Sela in the semi...

... or rather the quarter

It was rather late...

I see that seeds #2, 3, & 4 have progressed to the SFs. We need a little disruption to the order of things in the night ( very much night in UK ) match.

Kyle has drawn Chung in Rd1 Washington, followed by Dimitrov if he wins that one...

Kyle is doing his best - he has taken the 1st set v top seed Sock 6-4

Watching the live stream I've quickly decided this is an event I'm never visiting. Annoying pro American crowd very annoying music and announements.

They also held the trashiest Olympics in my lifetime in Atlanta in 1996 (surpassing even LA 1984) - still, if Kyle can pull this off, who cares!

Sock took a MTO with two games to go and I'm not sure cared too much by the end but anyway Kyle won 6-4 6-1. First ATP semi?

Kyle completes a really excellent win

QF: (5) Kyle Edmund WR 45 defeated (1) Jack Sock (USA) WR 19 (CH 14 in Apr) 4&1

SF: (5) Kyle Edmund WR 45 v (4) Ryan Harrison (USA) WR 42 (CH 40 last week)

Let's hope Kyle & Cam can make it a bad day for the Harrison brothers tomorrow!

Edit: 2nd ATP semi, I think, after Antwerp last October.

Despite both players wearing identical outfits watching on a tiny phone screen it was easy to discern which player was which ! Well done Kyle
