I suspect most of the unranked players / older juniors are playing County Week this coming week. Good fun, team atmosphere, all doubles but generally good quality.

Ah, perhaps you have finally hit on THE answer
Yep, that's looking the most likely, well done, The O.
And very canny of Ireland to plan it when they knew that County Week was happening (even if most of us didn't), very canny....

And so it would seem.... some of the players who have turned out for their county and who you might have expected to pitch up in Dublin: Emily Arbuthnott, Mollie Crouch, Nell Miller, Lily Ghodrati, Jasmine Asghar, Sabrina Federici, Ella Taylor, Holly Hutchinson, Destinee Martins, Natasha Hillyer, Soumeya Anane, Serena Nash, Olivia Nicholls, Eden Richardson, Hannah McColgan, Victoria Allen, Frankie Wilkes, Ellie-Rose Griffiths, Alicia Barnett plus plenty more college players, good juniors and the recently retired. Pretty similar with the men.

I'm sure it's a lot of fun but if any of the players at this kind of level has thrown away the chance to play in a weak 15K so close to home for County Week, it doesn't say much for their commitment to moving up the rankings. (I realise there may be other factors at play too, of course - for college players only at home for a few weeks whose rankings have effectively been temporarily sacrificed to go there in the first place, it may well make sense, for example)
Some good results this morning though , even if the defeated seeds were ranked outside the top 700 - both Laura and Jodie haven't been having a good time lately so their wins were very welcome and all the Brits in R2 so far seem to have a good chance to go further
I was initially a bit sad that Alice had failed to take what at first sight seemed a good opportunity to get her 3rd counter until I realised that the unranked qualifier who beat her is the player who upset Emily Arbuthnott in Belgium last week!

Very interesting as to who has gone where as a reflection of long term aspiration, I know very little about county week but the attendance list suggests the players like it and are willing to sacrifice an opportunity for ATP points to join the gymkhana. Only the bed weather put me off going to have a look
Two thumping doubles wins to round out a pretty satisfactory day all told:
R16: Burrage/Bejenaru (GBR/ROU) defeated Pulchartova/Tumosa (CZE/ARG) 6-1 6-0
R16: Appleton/Gleason (GBR/IRL) [2] defeated Courtney/Maher (IRL/IRL) 6-1 6-0
