A better score than I'd expected, with Sam 3-0 up in the second set, I believe.

But:

R1: Samuel Beddow (GBR) WR 1784  lost to (4) Manuel Guinard (FRA) WR 832 6-3 6-4

 

Edit: apparently I got carried away with the excitement of an 'almost-win' ! Now changed to show that he did, in fact, lose.....

 Aha. That makes sense when you realise "def." means "lost to".

The last two results I've looked at have both shown Brits on 9-match losing streaks (the other one was Tara) but this looks like a pretty good scoreline for Samuel (even when it's corrected to show him losing, I mean)
