R2: (2) Naomi Broady WR 110 beat Vlada Ekshibarova (ISR) WR 451 (CH 352 in July 2008) 4-6 7-6(5) 6-3

QF: (2) Naomi Broady WR 110 vs Ysaline Bonaventure (BEL) WR 396 (CH 141 in July last year)

Bonaventure, Naomi's doubles partner this week, beat Tara's conqueror, Danilina, 7-5 6-4. She had no ITF activity for over 6 months until mid April which no doubt largely explains her ranking drop since last year. I suspect Naomi will have to move up a gear or two from her first two rounds.

Regarding Naomi's US Open prospects the entry list is out and as WR 110 she is 5th alt.

The direct entrants are 99 of the top 105 plus 5 PRs.

The missing : S Williams, Siegemund, Shvedova, Mattek-Sands, Kucova and Minella.

The PRs : Azarenka, Stephens, Friedsam, Tomljanovic and Lisicki.

Last direct entry as things stand : Julia Boserup WR 105

Before they face off tomorrow in the singles, Naomi & Ysaline joined forces again to dismiss the fourth seeds, and make the doubles SF together, 6-4 6-2

Not to be, poor result really 2-6 0-6

Still, $2,787 in prize money to share, and 90 points is a decent return for the week

And Ysaline has reached the final of the singles, having won her SF easily. So she will be a lot more content than Naomi about her day's work.
