Week 29 - Ireland F1 ($25,000) - Dublin (carpet)

With the final to be played later today, Ryan's match done and dusted and the other semi only just into the second set (and the chances of it being very tight), there's a clear advantage to the teenager.

Well done, Ryan - am thrilled - a great week's tennis already, and just what was on the cards, given the level at Wimbledon and the already known skills.

And, allez Tom ! Great to see you back.

Incredibly, we have an all-Brit final, something on which I wouldn't have put any money yesterday!    biggrin

SF:  Tom Farquharson WR 1051 defeated (3) Yannick Jankovits (FRA) WR 398 by 7-6(7) 6-2   ban-woohoo.gif

*****

Final:  Ryan Storrie WR 1045 vs Tom Farquharson WR 1051

Ryan's match lasted only 58 minutes, Tom's one hour & 27 minutes.

Well, that 'advantage' bit was rather exaggerated - Tom turned up the heat (or Yannick folded) and the second set was a lot quicker.

Brilliant result, and week, from Tom F, winning 7-6(7) 6-2

And so, after the Irish offensive, the French assault collapses too.

And we are left with two British finalists, of a 25k, both ranked outside the top 1000

Wow, and two massive ranking jumps coming up, whoever wins being likely to jump as far as the 600s, but even the RU will be in the 700s. A truly wonderful week for both these two!

Yes, see previous posts.

It's great when you really don't mind who wins - allez, les deux !

Glad to hear they're both playing well.....

...but is that some strange Irish spelling of Tom's last name?

More like an attempt at phonetic pronunciation, I'd have said.  wink

What a brilliant week, Tom ! Congratulations !!!!

And bravo to Ryan too - a 25k final - super stuff.

And if the two of them could just do the same next week, they could just about jump right into Bob's top 500 (or pretty close) and go from 1000 to 500 in one fell swoop and avoid all the faffing around in between....

Love it when we Brits mop up the points. That added pleasure(s) here is that it is outside the UK and it is a 25k.

Congrats to Tom, Ryan and all the other Brits who had a good week.

What a week and our two finalists between them accounted for the top 6 seeds. From R2 on Tom beat in turn seeds 2, 5 & 3 and Ryan best seeds 1, 6 & 4
