Week 29 - Poland F6 ($15,000) - Mragowo (clay)

Then breaks again for *3-2. That's 5 breaks in 5 games. I am already getting suspicious of the widget again.

Job done as Rich completes a 6-3 6-3 win to become our first singles finalist of the week.

Bet Rich is glad he canceled his stateside plans and entered here as a wildcard quali player

Mind you, here's also where you've got to feel a bit sad for Chessari who lost to Gabb in QR2 and is sitting there muttering, 'bloody ridiculous, I have to play in qualis against the guy who makes it all the way to the final.....'

Of course, if 33 year-old Chadaj wins the other semi, we'll have two qualifiers in the final.....

And two qualifiers in the final it is:

SF:  (Q) Richard Gabb WR 769 defeated (3) Michal Schmid WR 659 by 3 & 3  biggrin

*****

Final:  SF:  (Q) Richard Gabb WR 769 vs (Q) Adam Chadaj (POL) WR 1412 (CH = 202 in August 2005)

Chadaj beat the fourth seed by 2 & 1.

An excellent week for Rich doesn't quite have the ending we hoped for as he goes down in straight sets.

Final: (Q) Adam Chadaj (POL) WR 1412 beat (Q) Richard Gabb WR 769 6-1 6-3

Still very good week for Richard.

And in checking who was likely to win the TB between him and Tom F ( when on Monday week they are both on 36 points, as things stand GB #s 16 & 17 ) I had assumed that Tom would have had much fewer tournaments. But actually only just and Richard for whatever reasons has had spells of a couple of month or so with no ITF activity.

Hopefully both can compete regularly and move on up.
