He was only an alt for a challenger. Players often enter challengers with no intention of playing unless they make the main draw (there is no qualifying entry list).
The QFs as well thereafter got much better with just one further loss apart from the all British match.
So 5 of these 9 non top 300ers ( well for now says Jay ) moved on into the Saturday SFs. Actually the other 4 remaining apart from Jay are Richard at WR 769 and three outside the top 1000 in the current rankings ( Ryan, Tom and Julian ). Some really good performances down the rankings which I hope are recognised by the LTA with at least a mention or two.
And #25 in the top 25 list is going to look healthier than for quite a while on Monday week ( in a moving feast it is now Scott Clayton on 15 points though Julian Cash this week or James Ward next could even push him out ).

Pity about Jay ( but pretty decent transfer to clay ) but that was 4 out of our 5 semi finalists into their respective finals and all ranked outside the top 750.
One win, one loss clearly from the all GB final played yesterday. All the best to Richard and Julian today.
