Bizarre goings on here - based on her age (21), ranking (junior CH 224, never had a WTA ranking) & recent form (a few wins but not against anyone in the top 1000), I thought this was going to be a relatively easy opener for Eden but she has lost the first 8 games , though her % of points won is higher than normal for someone losing that badly. As I write that, she breaks the duck - 0-6 1-2*

Emily is struggling againist the wily old Austrian, Melanie Klaffner, [8] 674 1-6 1-3*
One of Emily's games was a break, her serve is getting some harsh treatment it seems.

All over 1-6 1-6
I was looking forward to, for once, having our own 'under-ranked' college ringer to plough through unaware draws, but it hasn't really happened yet.

Emily has a chance to salvage something in doubles later today.

Emily did, at least, get through to the doubles SF, with her Aussie partner, Belinda Woolc0ck (the auto-censor doesn't like it if you spell it correctly).
They came through [10-7] in the MTB, and later today play an unseeded Philippino/Austrian pair for a place in the final.

Easily into the final, as Emily & Belinda win 6-1 6-3

The title decider is against an unseeded Dutch/American pair with a combined ranking of 752 - which is about ˝ their singles rankings.
Emily alone has a 709 doubles ranking, Woolc0ck is UNR.

Emily will have to wait for an eighth doubles title, as her team lose the final today, 4-6 4-6
