Sinead Lohan is actually the defending champion from last year. So she obviously likes it here.
She's is at college in the US so barely plays ITF tennis (seems to play a little in summer and that's it), so her ranking is obviously completely misleading.
Ah yes, thanks CD. Yes, it seems mostly the case these days that good - and underranked - players one has not really heard of these days are at college in the US. And really interesting that she is the defending champion too. Well, so it will be a very good test for Alicia then, who has had a favourable draw, but has nevertheless put on a very solid performance in each of her matches so far. I hope it's a good match
I don't think Alicia could have wished for a better set of draws.
Took out the second seed in R2.
Who was reported to be injured. As Paulisi said fortunate draw to yield these results, but you can only beat what's in front of you so well done on getting to the final. Be interesting to see how close the final is based on her opponent having a false ranking.
Very possibly. But all that was reported ( in this thread anyway ) is that there was a MTO two games from the end.
Alicia may or may not have had a favourable draw - as Indy says, one MTO in itself hardly tells you anything about the state of the player or the match. (I note also that the girl she beat is R1 won the doubles title).
But the point is that all players, who play a decent amount of tournaments, will have a range of draws. So anyone else who is ranked 800, say, will have had some easier draws. It's the norm. And so is not something that makes the achievement any the less.
Indeed, Beth had an equally favourable draw. By definition. But lost.
Now to build on this, and make multi-win weeks in MD the norm rather than the exception.
At least, when the points go on, qualies should be a thing of the past for a while, which should help.
Well done.

That was a good week for Alicia and will help her get main draw events going forward.
However having seen her play, I believe she may go the way of Laura Deigman, Beth Grey, Suzy Larkin who got into the 600-800 and are unable to push on.
