That's a good win for Alicia over someone that is the same age and almost identical ranking as her... It's been a good year so far for Alicia and should take her to a career high once the point is added on. Next match is potentially against the #2 seed, who seems only due to play tomorrow eventually, so there may be no further points for her this week.

Sarah Beth will also play a 17 yr old similarly ranked opponent who beat the #4 seed. Laura Deigman up on court next.

Superb result from Alicia!
6-3 6-1

Just 2 places off a career high win that one. Well done.

There was a MTO two games from the end, so I suspect that her opponent was nursing an injury... Still a wonderful result for Alicia smile

That might help explain things. But who knows how much effect it had....

However, what is certain is that Alicia now gets an unranked WC who's only ever been up to WR 1204, and is 22, and has been playing plenty of matches this year but really not got a lot to show for it (hence being unranked).

Go Alicia !

Also Alicia's best week of the year so far.
In 15 outings, this is her first QF - in fact, even her first R16
The other 14 events have yielded:

$15K - 10
> QR1 - 3
> QR2 - 2
> FQR - 3
> (Q) R32 -2

$25K - 1
> (Q) R32 -2

$100K - 3
QR1 - 1
QR2 - 1
FQR - 1

Well done, Alicia - knew you'd win that one.

Looking like she might get the Spanish 17 year-old in the semi - Bassols Ribera won the first set 6-2 although still some way to go in the second.
