A large British contingent as usual, headed by Hannah McColgan, with Alexandra Hunter and Amelia Bissett seeded 3 and 4 - draws at http://www.itftennis.com/juniors/tournaments/tournament/info.aspx?tournamentid=1100039517
Little Lily Hutchings (2003) got another win today.
But Millie Bissett was beaten in two sets by Sonay who has been mentioned here before as a promising GB player, born 2001, who maybe has had injury or just doesn't play too much on the circuit but is an interesting prospect.
Two more 'peskies' fell by the wayside, with the results of the only other two remaining ones yet to come.
As well as the all-GB singles semis, we also have an all-GB doubles final with third seeds Annali and Holly having put out the Hungarian second seeds and the GB wildcard youngsters having beaten the GB fourth seeds:
SFs:
(wc) Lily HUTCHINGS (GBR) / Charlotte RUSSELL (GBR) def. Hannah DAVIES (GBR) / Aleksandra TOPALOVIC (GBR) [4] 6-7(4) 7-6(4) [10-7]
Poor Sonay's problems continue as she retires 1-3 down in her semi. It would be nice to see what she could achieve if she were able to play and compete on a more regular basis.
I'm not sure Hannah's results indicate she's ready to go much higher than grade 5 yet. Winning the title tomorrow might be just the boost she needs to push on.
Anyone who has made the finals of the last two G5s she's entered, is JWR top 600, and already had two main draw wins in ITF adult events, (as well as some very close losses to good WTA players), is certainly ready to go higher (which doesn't mean she should not be playing here, just that this event shouldn't be the bellwether of her level).
