As stated above, excellent win for Luke. 10 ranking points and a bit more pocket money now.

Well done Luke, great chance to get his tennis career back on track. It's a relatively weak field considering the usual standards of field over here so no reason he can't go deep and get that ranking back up.

L16:  (7) Brayden Schnur (CAN) WR 233 (CH = 231 last month) vs (Q) Luke Bambridge WR 602

Can't see Luke getting through that one myself, though I'd be delighted to be proved wrong.   hmm

Luke actually has a 2-0 H2H against Schnur - a 1 & 2 junior win at Beaulieu-sur-Mer in 2012 (when Luke was seeded) and then a much closer, 7-5 in the 3rd, win at a Futures event here in Winnipeg the following year. Their current rankings imply that Schnur made a much better transition to seniors but maybe the good (for Luke) and bad (for Schnur) memories of past meetings will help to obviate the rankings gap a bit and give Luke a chance.

Why weren't there any other Brits here or at Winnetka?? Main draw cut-offs were 402 and 532.

Surely an opportunity missed to gain some points and money?

 Too close timewise to Wimbledon.
