Weeks 27 & 28 - Wimbledon (grass) - mixed doubles

I do think mixed doubles is underrated, the implicit lack of parity from a power perspective between the partners in each team adds a certain subtlety to the game with a frequent change in tempo between shots in the same rally.

Loved Hev completely ignoring Henri's calls to pinch what were definitely her overheads, and she didn't miss one, the shout merely intensified her focus.

It would be great to see heather and Jamie match up in the final. Does anyone have any insight with hev and Henri didn't pair up in the other slams? Workload would not be an issue for Henri with 6 rounds over two weeks and 3 sets at that in the other slams. You'd think there'd be a chance to make some dent money and win another title or two..

Yes, that was my favourite bit too.

Hen: 'mine, mine, mine'

Hev: .....don't think so, sunshine.....

Brilliant smile

My first thought would be, is their CR high enough?

Could be - also please accept my apologies for my appalling original post above - typing on phone whilst walking the dog doesnt work well when it comes to writing sensible prose!

Heather and Henri's SF is the third match on Court 1 today, after the ladies doubles SFs. I see that Jamie and Martina's SF is TBA - so presumably on Centre Court if the men's SF are short, or Court 1 otherwise.

H2 were direct entrants here so didn't need a WC. Helps if one constituent part of the CR is 1 !

Their CR here is 82 and I see a CR of 115 ( Nicole Melichar+ ) for one got in. Probably if Henri keeps in the top few and Heather keeps under 100 they'ed be OK for Slam entry if they want it.

It's interesting that the camera frequently pans to her mum, Michelle, when she's courtside & easy to see where Hev got that sunny smile of hers!  smile

What your overlooking is Wimbledon has a larger draw than the other Slams. You tend to need to be around CR 60 to get into those.

Ah thanks, wolf. I take it they are 32 rather than 48 ?

I thought of checking, but just went on the theory that usually works, put down some possible nonsense and someone will sort it out.

Sorry  ( resisted saying 'my bad' )

So, the first half of the bargain's in place:

SF:  (1) Jamie Murray & Martina Hingis (SUI) CR 3 (5+3) defeated Marcelo Demoliner & María José Martínez (BRA/ESP) CR 86 (49+37) by 2 & 5

Meanwhile, Hev & Henri are into a decider on Court 1...

And there we have it, a dream final in the mixed - with divided loyalties:

SF:  Henri Kontinen (FIN) & Heather Watson CR 82 (1+81) defeated (2) Bruno Soares & Elena Vesnina (BRA/RUS) CR 10 (6+4) by 6-4 6-7(6) 6-3  biggrin

in a highly entertaining match, which lasted two hours & eight minutes!

*****

Final:  (1) Jamie Murray & Martina Hingis (SUI) CR 8 (5+3) vs Henri Kontinen (FIN) & Heather Watson CR 82 (1+81)
