Yes. Absolutely wonderfully. All the little points you could say about Jo were caused by Venus' excellent play, and understanding of how and what to play.
Johanna wisely heeding the advice: "Always leave them wanting more"
You can't just re-write every chapter of GB Women's tennis in the one year now, there's no encore.
Next time.
Well done, to the remarkable Venus. Another gripping chapter in her own amazing story.
But, most of all, congratulations and thank you to Johanna, who has had me deliriously somewhere between stupidly happy and sick with nerves for weeks on end now with her play, courage, skill, and the way she has conducted herself on and off court.
An honour and a privilege to support you ma'am.
Long may it continue.

Data I post, opinions I offer, 'facts' I assert, are almost certainly all stupidly wrong.
Is it my imagination, or does Venus play better in tournaments when Serena isn't entered? I don't know if it is simply that she gets overshadowed when her younger sister is playing, but from my (admittedly limited) viewing she seems to have much more success when she is the lone Williams.
Has anyone got the stats for this obscure case?
Not got any stats. But after Venus said in her post match interview how much she was missing Serena, I think it was Tracey Austin that said that she thinks Venus much more comes into her own when Serena is not around.
I suspect you are onto something. Tenniswise anyway. No doubt with the tragic car accident there are other reasons she may have liked Serena around even moreso than normal.
Well played Venus, and commiserations to Jo. To be honest, with the heavy fall at Eastbourne I was glad just to see Jo play and win one match, so she's really got a lot to be proud of this fortnight. She won tough matches against Vekic, Garcia and Halep - securing revenge wins over all three and Hsieh in the 1st round. On to the US hardcourt season (hopefully after a few weeks of rest).

Yes I was thinking that earlier - when she fell I had visions of her being out of Wimbledon all together.
I thought Jo's serving was not quite as devastating as it had been in the three previous matches, which is perhaps not surprising given the stresses of the last few weeks. Those three close three setters were bound to catch up with eventually.
Venus played an excellent match and Jo matched her for the first set which was high quality throughout and decided by the smallest of margins. One Venus took the first set, Jo fell away a bit in the second, probably feeling the effects of a long and successful two weeks.
Its been a great two weeks for Jo and good to see her finally get the wider recognition her efforts have deserved. She will also have learned a lot about the experience of being a British player on a run at Wimbledon with all the extra attention.
