Magdalena Rybarikova just keeps on going, after beating Coco Vandeweghe 6-3 6-3 in the switched match ( she beat Coco in straight sets in the French Open R1 as well before losing to Duque-Marino in R2 ). Now into a Wimbledon SF against Garbine Muguruza.
UK grass 2017 : 18 wins 1 loss ( to Jo )
All surfaces ( and since that includes Japan who knows what that all really covers ) since the start of May at various levels : 28 wins 2 losses

Incredible high quality match, just so proud of Jo, she had to come through some really tough battles, Venus will be very tough, as she has strolled through the last couple relatively. I think the fact that the investigation into the fatal car crash, has concluded that she wasn't to blame must have lifted a huge burden from her. Day's rest should be huge for Jo.
Such a great match. Great fight from Jo against an equally determined player. Although the SF is more nerve racking from the point of view that the final is just that one last step away, I think Jo will be less nervous playing Venus than she was playing Simona. Can only wish her the best of all possible matches. A great tournament for her with the added pressure of doing it all at home. Well done Jo and team.
According to live rankings, she's 4th now. She'd need to win the thing to go past Kerber into 3rd. If she loses to Venus, and Venus wins the tournament then Konta would drop back to 5th.
Only just got back from work and missed all the tennis today, but a big congratulations to Jo all the same - it sounded lie a high class match and another great effort to win it.
I'm lucky enough to have got centre court tickets for Thursday and it should be a fantastic atmosphere. Venus has had a relatively easy progression to the semi-finals in comparison to Jo, but hopefully that means Jo is battle hardened rather than mentally or physically exhausted.
Future Grand Slam champion in the making. Will make GB, Australia and Hungary proud I'm sure.
Number 1 ranking will be in sight by US Open time as well. Hard work pays off, well done Jo. Again finding a way through by beating a player who again today, as I thought with Garcia match played better. Halep was superb today Murray like chasing after every shot. On the big points though Jo was too strong.
Really pathetic end to the match, whoever that was has completely denied Konta of potentially her biggest ever professional moment. All credit to both players, they both played a truly spectacular match. So proud of Jo!
Yes another cringe moment for me again. The Wimbledon toff crowd do themselves no favours sometimes. Shame it spoiled the moment.

Halep is one of my favourite players but she was well beaten yesterday by a better player (on grass) who executed her game plan.
Haleps defensive game is so strong you just have to accept early the points will be longer regardless of how well you are playing, it took Jo a set to realise that and to stop trying to hit the lines and overhitting when she had Halep red lining.
I don't think the concept of the taking of break points to the number of break points created is relevant unless you loose. A bit like in football; life is much easier if you are creating chances, you win more ofte, indeed it is a primary statistic that betting companies collect to determine odds. So I take the point but score that as 7-1 to Jo as she won.
For me the two QF days are the best of the tournament, where the volume of tennis and the quality of the match ups make it compulsive viewing all day! Yesterdays first two QF's on centre court were a superb advert for women's tennis, Venus played beautifully in her late thirties and Ostapenko is a little Miss Dynamite, great stuff, inspirational for any girls (or ind boys) who are thinking of taking up the sport!

One thing I did wonder about that scream from the crowd at match point, could/should the umpire call an instant let? What are the rules on noises or other disturbances that might interfere with play or break the players' concentration?
