Both players served a lot better than they received. Hard to believe there were so few break points in the match. Halep played better than I expected. Jo seemed either brilliant or terrible, with very little in between. For long spells anything near the net caused chaos then she struck three superb drive volleys in a row.

Oh my goodness. I couldn't quite watch the TV in the last game!
Such a shame it ended that way. I think they were both hindered by that scream during the last point though. I wonder how Simona feels about a partisan UK crowd after the Fed Cup incident...
The women's matches have been so good this year. Jo especially has exceeded what I thought she would achieve this year on the grass. Venus should be another stunning match, can't wait!
What a stupid way to finish though, ruined any potential celebration - Konta just looked apologetic. Stupid from the person in the crowd but Halep shouldn't have stopped playing.
Couldn't agree more, absolutely ruined the finale to such a wonderfully competitive match.
Thought I should take a short and rare trip over the Women's section just to add my congratulations to Jo on a fantastic win. I was a truly gripping match. Can we put the fact that she is hitting the ball so consistently down to the quality of her hitting partner
I think Fitzy deserves another cup cake after today.
Hi all - I didnt see any of the match due to work, although followed BBC text. What actually happened at the end that caused a discussion?
Someone in the crowd screamed out loud during the point just as Jo was hitting the ball. Halep almost seemed to stop and missed an easy ball as a result of it.
I do think it was a shame that at the net Halep only gave a quick handshake and that was it. No nice warm hug between the two like we have seen in many other matches.
Just fabulous from Jo. She seemed to dig deep right at the vital moments. Tbh I thought in the first part of the match that Halep was going to win so full credit to Jo. Now it's Venus for a place in the final. What do others think? I honestly believe Jo will beat Venus as she already has wins over her even if on a different surface. If she plays her best I truly can see her there on Saturday. What a Wimbledon this has been. Bloody fantastic.
That seemed a brilliant turnaround from Jo, when Halep was playing so well
A pity what happened on the last point (mainly because it denied Jo a proper celebration), but there's always a chance of something like that happening, it wasn't an out call that might have sounded like it came from a line umpire, the crowd didn't all erupt and (mainly for the first reason rather than the other two) Halep should surely have known better than to stop playing.
It's 50 years (1967, before the Open era) since GB had both men's and women's singles semi-finalists in the same year at Wimbledon - 3rd seed Ann Jones made the final (L to Billie Jean King but won the title in 1969) & Roger Taylor the semis (L to Wilhelm Bungert) - so there's another long wait for Andy to try to end tomorrow. Looking back at the draws from those times makes it clear how much harder it is to match 1960s/70s feats these days - back then, the QFs were dominated by American's and, to a lesser extent, Australians and there was nothing like the global strength in depth there is these days.

I dare to hope that we have not seen anything yet!
A lot of respect for Jo and Simona, I thoroughly enjoyed the match, fantastic movement, high quality serving and a number of prolonged rallies of power hitting off both sides, in the context of what was at stake a great game of tennis. More please.
I do think it was a shame that at the net Halep only gave a quick handshake and that was it. No nice warm hug between the two like we have seen in many other matches.
.....
Oh c'mon ??!!!
Halep was perfectly fine and gracious and as commented waited for Jo to get her bag together.
The yell from the crowd clearly didn't help the end but Simona was probably rather devastated anyway and wanted off that court. As against say Donna Vekic, a still young player who was in tears at the end of a great match and it was hug time. It isn't always and that's fair enough.Just be gracious and Halep was.
All that I care about anyway is Jo won and both players played their part in an enthralling match
Wonderful match , Halep was getting everything back and it must have been very frustrating for Jo .
I can't imagine Williams will make so few unforced errors and Jo did amazing to hold her nerve in the final game. It's a shame it ended that way but to be honest who cares , Jo won!
