Nice to see some reaction to my comment above. I like that. Everyone has their own viewpoint. As regards British Tennis and the LTA etc I could probably rant on here for hours like many others about the way things have been handled over a lot of years. I speak only as a tennis fan and a GB supporter. I am nearly 51 and so have followed the fortunes (often low) of the British players for decades now. I dreamed to see a British man win and Murray went and did it. I had the delight to meet Andy and Kim in Barcelona a couple of years back whilst on holiday. Pure fluke but I grabbed my chance on the street to speak to him. Great man, warm and friendly. He stood and chatted and was interested in my family and I thanked him from my heart for his 2013 victory and what he had done for me as a supporter. So it's the same with Jo. I know she comes from down under but the fact is it says GB after her name and so that is what I will cheer. Me saying it is good for British tennis is meant that hopefully this will encourage more girls to want to be like Jo. She is another role model. If she makes the final on Saturday and that is still a big if, but if she does I don't care about where she was born, trained or any of that. It will say Jo Konta GB and I will be willing her to victory and it would be a GB victory. That is what millions of fans supporting her in this country will think.
Forgot to say, Jaggy, I don't think you are a troll. You just gave your opinion which is healthy debate and I can see where you are coming from. But if Jo makes the final let's all forget that stuff and just party and cheer her to victory. Grab any success we can I say.
Garcia pushed Jo a lot harder than I thought she would (at least until the last two points) and credit to Jo for coming through. Like against Vekic, she held firm on serve in the final set and took her chance when it came. Jo has played like a top player so far at Wimbledon not just in level of play but also toughing it out when needed.
All 8 matches went with the favourite today so sets up soe very interesting quarter finals. I think every match from now on in the women's draw won't have a clear favourite, but that also means there won't be anyone Jo can't beat.

Exactly Rich fair points, glad you met Andy know a few people who have met him yet to hear a bad word against him. His sense of humour doesn't come through on to but hey I'm sure he doesn't care. He's a great guy. Healthy debate is exactly what a forum should be for, rather than just a list of results than anyone can read. I find the mental ability of tennis more interesting than in a lot of sports. You can almost see a player evolve and develop by watching them closely. Jo is a future Grand Slam champion whether it be here or elsewhere. Today's match showed that. I reckon Garcia would have beaten anyone than Jo today.
I remember watching Jo play Giorgi just a few years a go at Eastbourne I think. Jo was well in control of the match and was something like 5-1 or 5-2 up and Giorgi was awful. Then Jo just fell apart and let her back in and handed the match. I remember being so critical of Jo then and honestly if anyone had told me then where she would be today I would have laughed at them. But it just goes to show. Now Jo has that inner belief her game has just leapt on. The mental side is such a massive part of the game.
Basically no match has a clear favourite, and guessing all 4 semi-finalists would be an impressive feat. Makes for some exciting tennis, and hopefully Jo can come out on top. Despite the Fed Cup match I think she has the psychological edge over Halep with a couple of big comebacks.
So the two highest remaining seeds play each other in the QF. I guess the lack of clear favourites this year made it hard for several high seeds to make it through to the QFs. The hot dry weather may also have affected some players more than others.

Although as said (1) Kerber, (4) Svitolina and (5) Wozniacki actually weren't faourites in their matches today. All 8 favourites ( quite a few like the upcoming QFs I asume pretty tight ) made it through. So Ka Pliskova has been the only top 6 seed to go out the tournament against the odds.
