Heather has a 0-5 record against Azarenka having never won a single set, so all to play for. smile

Vekic levels it.

7-6(4), 4-6

Very close match. Either set could have gone the other way. Both hitting deep and hard.

Every bit as tough as expected, after their last meeting at Nottingham. Well done Jo, for outlasting Donna (who was in tears at the end)

Three hours of great tennis, compelling drama and fabulous excitement.
The very essence of all that's best about Wimbledon

Thank you for the pleasure Ms. Konta & Vekic.

Well done Johanna

Well done, Ms Konta. And Ms Watson. What a Wimbledon for the GB women!

Well, we have an outside shot at getting two through to R16, which hasn't happened since 1984.

Although in '84, we had 5 through to R32! :
Anne Hobbs (lost R16)
Julie Salmon (lost R32)
Jo Durie (lost QF)
Virginia Wade (lost R32)
Annabel Croft (lost R32)

Since then our only three R16 representatives have been:
1985: Jo Durie (lost in R16)
1998: Sam Smith (lost in R16)
2010: Laura Robson (Lost in R16)

Friday for all the fun!

I was following that match on Radio Wimbledon but also on live scores, which were a point ahead. All those holds from 0-30 late in the 3rd!

So, JoKo into R3 at Wimbledon for the first time, Hev for the 3rd time - the first British woman to manage that since Anne Hobbs and Jo Durie in the late 1980s, though she had already become the first British woman to make R3 twice since then when she got there in 2015!

Hev has also now equalled Bally for the most GB women's singles main draw wins at Wimbledon in the last quarter of a century with 7 - Karen Cross is in 3rd place with 5, followed by Anne and Laura with 4, then Sam Smith, Louise Latimer and now JoKo with 3.
