Great win for Heather! First set Hev started in peak form with everything out the middle of the racket and Sevastova was nowhere near her. Second set was more of a battle, Heather was never going to maintain that level and Sevastova improved, but Heather having outplayed her opponent in the first outfought her in the second.
Well!
Jo Durie may not be surprised by the result, but I certainly am.
The result and the manner of it. Sevastova is a quality player, very smart, and full of guile, who was in good form, winning the Mallorca grass court tournament just two weeks ago.
And for the most part Heather blew hew off court with not much of a flutter.
One of Heather's best ever wins.
Superb

Both playing to a very high level. Wouldn't be surprised if fitness comes into this, if it goes to a third set; in the match to decide the next ooponent for this pair, Kr Pliskova is wilting in the heat. Jo had a quick match in R1, Vekic 2 1/2 hours.
Fantastic stuff from Heather. I thought she would have a chance if still playing well. But that said it's Wimbledon and a seed and you don't wanna get too excited. But what a result and smashing her way back into the top 100 where she belongs on this form.
