Doubly delighted by that result. Firstly because Aljaz deserves enormous credit for his composure throughout the match and secondly because I won't have to a watch Karlovic any more.
Stu Fraser notes on the back page of today's Times that "the climax of Bedene's win was, however, missed by the BBC, who cut to their highlights programme at 8.30pm". Hasn't he heard of the red button? I watched most of the fourth & the whole of the fifth set there!
I'm not really sure why they had to stop showing a live match for highlights though. Why can't they show highlights later or on red button?
I've never understood why Today at Wimbledon was moved from its sensible later slot (22.00/22.30) to 20.30. These days, I watch it only if it doesn't clash with a live match that I want to see.
The leaving of live matches is bizarre but not as bad as having six matches on the red button but not the Kyle and Alex match, presumably because they will join it on bbc2 after Sue finishes her 40 minute chat.
Agree SC. Presumably highlights are mainly aimed at these who have been unable to tune in for the day or much of it, quite a lot who will still be unable to at 8.30 compared with a sensible later time after the action is concluded.
Certainly competitive which is good for Alex and relatively unimpressive from Kyle.
Alex got a bit loose ( or conversely tight ) for a bit there in the second set starting from *1-2 40-0 when he hit a couple of awful forehands in the next two points before winning that particular game. As they said in commentary at the time "first time he's really blinked".
Kyle looking well in control now, two sets to one and an early break in set 4.
4-6 6-3 6-2 2-0*
Have seen very little of the last set and a bit but Kyle pretty well ahead in just about all the numbers with Alex's second serve looking as if it's had a fair amount of treatment. Just his first serve in % a bit down at an overall 50%.
Kyle was certainly looking a heck of a lot better in these last few games then in the first couple of sets. More depth and the fearhand really firing and just generally looking much better. Hopefully he can take confidence from that upturn moving forward and make a faster start.
For Alex, well done mate, you earned your day in the sunny periods.
I had high hopes for Alex there after a set and a half but probably too much for him in the end after last week. Kyle is probably my least favourite Brit to watch, also makes Andy Murray seem showbiz.

He's sure not generally box office ( though the fearhand helps if not the sometimes accompanying limp fistpump ) and to me is almost eerily expressionless for most of the time. And personally I prefer to see much more from the player, but if it's not for them ...
By all accounts a really good lad and I would imagine very difficult to change your natural on court persona even if you wanted to, much as the commentators can talk about maybe having more presence.
