Lovely to see Katy come through with such a convincing result - now Van Uytvanck awaits - maybe she should find a video of how Tara beat her in the main draw at Wimbledon last year - I was there courtside and Van Uytvanck crumbled and fell away, so hope Katy can put her under pressure from the start.
I watched both days of Harriet's match and I thought she acquitted herself really well - to take the very solid Turkish player to three sets and have two match points should give Harriet a lot of encouragement - her opponent definitely stepped up a couple of gears in the second set and by the end they were both playing really good tennis.
Katie Swan also did well I think and came very close, and Tara's match was a really long, hard fought affair; Falconi is a very experienced player and I think it was tighter than the scoreline may have suggested - numerous deuces and breakpoints for both of them. At one time it looked as if Eden would join them, but her opponent dominated after that - anyway lots of good performances from our women, with only Gabi and Freya not really doing themselves justice.
As for the non-Brits, I'm really interested in a potential second round match between Rus and Martic - Martic came through qualifying to make the last 16 in the French Open and she is one of the players of greatest unfulfilled potential outside the top 100, which would be the exact description you would give her likely opponent, Arantxa Rus - others say Van Uytvanck is the best player in the qualies - I would say those two would rival her to top spot.
By the way, just a thought on the rain, with the forecast looking dire for Thursday too; I remember one year when they actually had a couple of uncompleted 3rd round women's qualifying matches on the main courts on the opening day of Wimbledon - it was a few years ago, but it was almost surreal to have qualfiers taking place on the outside courts at Wimbledon, at the same time as the first round was taking place.
Could it happen again - well I assume that Friday and Saturday will have to now be used this year, but knowing the organisers, they may well prefer to play matches not completed then, on the Monday on the main courts at Wimbledon rather than open Roehampton on the Sunday (crazy though that would seem to us normal human beings!).
The main draw of the G1 junior event gets underway on the courts at the Bank of England at Roehampton on Sunday (qualies at Surbiton the previous 2 days).

The tiebreak didn't exactly go to plan, but often the TB winner seems to be vulnerable early in the next set and here Maia has broken straight away. Though there have been plenty breaks with breaks now 12-11 up on holds overall.
