Something of a development in the match to decide Johanna's opponent: a withdrawal has meant a LL place, and that has been taken by Cirstea, who now plays Siniakova to be Jo's R2 match.
I really hope Siniakova comes through, as I don't think Jo needs all the nonsense from Fed Cup to be re-litigated right before Wimbledon.

Do you mean re-ignited ?   - Talking of litigation, what happened to Nastase eventually?

Well... both.
The Romanian anti-Jo side will be arguing about the grand conspiracy where the officials were all GB, and Nastase did nothing wrong, and it was all Johanna's fault for maliciously, calculatingly and deliberately crying to gain unsporrting advantage etc...
Re-litigating the 'case.

The whole affair will be re-ignited, just by their meeting.

Which, now, sadly, is going to happen, as Cirstea defeated Siniakova.
A very bad time for it, at Jo's home event, and crucial to her Wimbledon build up, this threatens to ruin both, no matter how well Johanna herself handles it, you can't contain and constrain all variables around somethign like this.

Maybe a bit inconvenient. I very much doubt that it will "ruin" things though and I actually expect it to be played out pretty professionally.

Anybody else notice 6 lucky losers in this draw. Next one would be from the first round losers which means one of our girls if on site would have a chance.

Match point saved at 5-2, 2 have came and gone now at 5-3 and now broken for 5-4, Heather looks tight but Cibulkova the tenacious warrior she always is. In the balance I'd say. Enjoyable match.

Well done Heather, best I've seen her for a long time. Love that smile as well she's an infectious character isn't she. Back in the top 100 rankings wise, important for going forward for US Open.

That's also her 2nd highest rankings scalp as well I think, can only think of 1 previous top 10 win.

Thought she played great. How many top 10 wins does Heather have now?

Dominika was the defending champion here.
Heather's first consecutive wins at WTA level since April.

Her other top 10 win was against Aga, in Indian Wells, R32, 2015

Really great to see Heather back up a marathon match yesterday. May the results continue.

 confuse

Heather's still well short. With the 48 women draw she's 'just' into the L16.

442 + ( 55 - 1 ) = 496 points so far.

Even two more wins and a SF place apparently leaves her a bit short in live rankings.

442 + ( 185 - 1 ) = 626 - showing as equivalent to live rank 102.

She would need to reach the final so 3 more wins. You weren't looking at Naomi's starting points were you ?
