The Dan Cox situation is a difficult one for me. Nothing against Dan whatsoever. I have spoken to him, albeit briefly and he seemed like a very genuine guy. If he is going to make another go of it on the tour, then he will of course get my full support, but I always want the places to go to people who are still making an effort to succeed on the playing front. Dan clearly has every right to take part and good luck to him, But if this is a one-off return and he is going to focus on coaching, I would personally like to see one of the other three make it through.
It's such a hard one, isn't it. I looked at that side of the draw (not to denigrate anyone on the other side, either, which is equally fine!) and thought that while I don't know much at all about Jonny Gray, what people say on here is positve ... and the others are all players who over the years have shown that they're hard-working, enthusiastic, and gifted. As CD was reflecting earlier, you could rejoice with any of them having a win ... and be gutted for any of them having a loss. Particularly so for the older three - all of whom have dealt with lack of (official) support and in Jonny O'Mara's and Alex Ward's cases, a fair amount of recent injury. Would that there were draws in tennis matches (and enough QWCs to reward them).

I am biased as sponsored Neil pauffley this year and hoping he can win his last match v Ryan Storrie and emulate marcus's run it be nice to see the sponsorship pay off again
I suspect that Dan's playing days are coming to a close hoping Jonny Omara gets through i feel if johny can qualify it give him a psychological boost said it all before but when struggling with funding like a lot of these players are it's difficult to be 100% focused

Do you know the results from today ? They are not on the LTA website yet.
Happy to see all the British boys do well although it is really exciting to see younger players make an impression, to see Ryan do well would be great reward for his persistence I feel he is a slow burner who will get there in time.

You make him sound ancient
He only turned 19 a few months ago.... not sure you can be a slow burner at 19.....
I do SO wish, though, that he'd got the match point against John-Patrick Smith the other day - such slim margins can make big differences .... but it'll happen.
However, as said, good chance he'll get a QWC, I'd have thought, even if Neil wins.
