Hmm, Joe will very likely be into the top 150 with that win ( WR 152 in the latest rankings ). A QF win and he will pass Mr O'Hare ( who is currently WR 141 ).
Joe and Brydan have been doing very well as a pair and well done to them. Still not sure things sit easily with me or that everything has been handled in a sensible manner.
In response to Indiana's point, I'm still not happy about it (and no reason to suppose Salisbury and O'Hare wouldn't have done equally well) - but my positive thought would be that both Mr Salisbury and Mr O'Hare will benefit from the rankings increases, which will help them with any future tournaments.
There is some value in the decision as two British players are benefitting from one wildcard and of course there is plenty to be learnt from playing with another partner. From experience elite doubles is known to fairly promiscuous in terms of turn over of partners, also something worth getting useful.
Blimey! The Ratis, having seen off Ken & Neal on Monday, have now gone on to despatch the second seeds, Purav Raja & Divij Sharan, by 2 & 4. That means there is only one seeded pair left in the competion, the N° 1s, Leander Paes & Adil Shamasdin, whom Marcus & young Jay would meet in the semi-final, were they to dump out Millman & Saville later.
It's rather dreadful to have at least implied confirmation of the enforced split between David O'Hare and Joe Salisbury - the worse because, as I recall it, O'Hare waited out Salisbury's illness. You would hope that his loyalty might earn some kind of expression of support from the LTA. I'm glad he's found a reasonably decent partner for the time being.
My apologies if someone has already mentioned this, but it's not exactly unprecedented for a Brit with a foreign playing partner to be allocated a doubles WC at Wimbledon: think Jonny Marray & one Frederik Nielsen in 2012...
Brydan hit a great return at 2-2 deuce second set and someone made the comment "two wild cards, f****** hell". Couldn't make out if it was Marc or Andrew or Brydan himself.
