May he find one more suited to him. Be interesting to see who he had next. Obviously covid makes everything that bit more tricky.

Be interesting. The lad needs more general drive from wirhin but a good driver would help.

See that Kyle has teamed up with Karen Khachanov for the first week of Aussie quarantine and his single training partner.

And with Goffin and Dimitrov too for week two.

Mike Dickson in the Daily Mail reports that worryingly Kyle is still experiencing problems with his knee and his fitness for the start of the season is not guaranteed.

Ah, the supposedly "not believed to be long term" knee problem

I suspect that you were right to be seemingly sceptical above and to reference Jo.

From the rankings prediction thread:

"Just get the feeling that Kyle is carrying an injury. Hence his low ranking."

I had no inside knowledge. Honest.

Yes I can remember Jo's knee problem being reported as minor in September 2019. But when she did her press meet up in December 2019 it was reported as a serious problem which might keep her out of the Aussie Open. All her performances before lockdown seem to be affected by knee troubles.Even when the Battle of Brits event was held at the end of July, I can recall Sam Smith saying she was still having troubles there. Later on Annie K. mentioned Jo having some treatment which eased the problem. Knee trouble has caused the retirement of players in the past.Kyle's  problems seem to have been going on  for sometime.

Kyle has withdrawn from the Aus Open.

As I feared.

Not a great way to celebrate his birthday.

Thanks and a real shame. Presumably out of Melbourne 1 as well

That's definitely sounding like a chronic injury to me. You don't just withdraw from slams for no good reason.

George Bellshaw
@BellshawGeorge
Can confirm Kyle Edmund's withdrawal from the Australian Open is due to a knee issue.

I do think under the current circumstances players are possibly withdrawing when they would usually give it a go. Is it worth the aggro of going through quarantine if you aren't in top form and aren't struggling for money.

How wierd is that. The link is the same as that posted by The Addict straight after mine.

Edit

I have now edited the original post and it seems to work.
