Just watching the highlights of Hev on Eurosport. She played extremely well for long periods - couple of slight lapses made the difference in the end. Really good effort against the world no 5. Back to her best ? Getting there, anyway. Take note Mr Henman, and deliver tomorrow.
If, as she hopefully does, she continues to progress here then I do hope she takes the Eastbourne week off.

Eastbourne is her home tournament, so unless she is feeling muscle strains, think it's unlikely. This was the week that was the more obvious for her to some resting/ training. But guess it will depend her deep she goes this week as to whether she considers. Maybe if she's in the final again she will think about it...

Well now that she is playing here, if she reaches the final and just thinks about it, that would be daft IMHO. Just about the same probably if she say reached the SF.
Don't wait for strains, try and avoid them, and Jo hasn't always seemed the most resilient physically. And fresher anyway would probably be no bad thing.
When she started to go off the boil a bit in the 2nd set after one point she stood holding her chest and looking like she was struggling to breathe (she had coughed a bit during the previous game) and got the doctor on at change of ends. I'm not sure the doctor gave her anything but couldn't see clearly. She perked up afterwards and scrapped it out to the end of the set. Maybe not 100% healthwise?
I have Coco a firm-ish favourite for that match, on grass.
As Jo will no doubt want to play Eastbourne, as her home event, and given the success there in the last two years; next week is also set to be cooler, and Eastbourne has 'clearer' air to ease any respiratory/heat related concerns (like US Open '16).
If she is to lose to a fine grass exponent, like Coco, it might not be such a bad thing; in the wider scheme of things.

Just watched highlights of Kvitova/Smitkova, and the sight of Petra, on a grass court, playing beautifully was like glorious food for the soul amongst the precipitous vicissitudes of the world in recent weeks.

Beautifully put. Two worst draws possible, one suspects, for the GB women in the next round. But I'd agree with the logic above on the Konta/Vandeweghe match ... and really, while it would be lovely to see Naomi Broady progress, at least if she doesn't, she's lost to someone that it's good to see winning.
