One more win for a guaranteed MDWC, and perhaps might get one anyway.
How do you work that one out? He already has a qWC.
I think they have been known to "upgrade" before. Jaggy's comment is speculation, but may not be far off the mark. There are still some MDWCs available.
Jay is getting fairly close to the best ranking levels Kyle and Evo reached before their 19th birthdays ( WR 307 and WR 316 respectively ) and has indeed come through in more of a rush over the last year, indeed moreso since November - he is #234 in the live race.
Now showing a live ranking of 359. 'Just' the two more wins here, ie reach the final, and he would be the first British male player since Andy ( and probably only the second overall under the rankings system ) to reach the top 300 before their 19th birthday ( Jay turns 19 on 27th July ).
Andy indeed wasn't top 300 at a fairly recently turned 18 before his first Wimbledon though after winning two rounds there in 2005 he was ranked WR 213 and had reached WR 41 before he turned 19 ( 15/05/06 ). So not trying to make too much of a comparison there !! But with Kyle and Evo, certainly more valid.
What was missing before this week was challenger level success. Just two wins, but two good wins and on grass at this time. Overall making a very good case for having his WC bumped up

Sorry to clarify, word doing the rounds was that if Jay and even Marcus were to progress to the Semis here they would be upgraded to MDWC. If either wins the tournament then it's a stick on.
They are really going for it on serve these two, not much holding back on 2nd serve either. 7 DFs between them already. Reckon if there are any breaks the DFs will tell.
"Reckon if there are any breaks the DFs will tell." Groth obliges with his fourth to give up the break. Marcus serves it out, despite a couple of bad misses.
6 Aces all........
