Sad stat of the day - that's the 15th time there has been a retirement in one of Jonny's pro singles matches and (E&OE) 14 of those 15 times, it's been him who has had to retire (the win by ret. was in a Futures semi-final)
I wonder if his body makes him particularly susceptible or if more injury prevention work needs to be done in training, though he seems a sensible lad so I imagine that's a very big priority already. Of course, he might also just be good at listening to his body and retiring in a precautionary way to save himself for bigger battles ahead (hoping against hope that's the case this time) but he does tend to have to take time out after the retirements, so I doubt that's a big factor.
Anyway, good luck to him - it must be beyond frustrating to have to retire from matches so often

GB on a shirt, Davis Cup still gleaming, 79 years of hurt, never stopped us dreaming ... 29/11/2015 that dream came true!
Just to add, Jonny has just told me the food poisoning kicked in about 15 mins into the match but otherwise he is feeling in his best shape ever. Long may it continue - and I don't mean the food poisoning.
L32: Marco Trungelliti (ARG) WR 158 (CH = 126 last July) vs (WC) Lloyd Glasspool WR 487 (CH = 282 last July)
L32: (WC) Marcus Willis WR 386 (CH = 322 in June 2014) vs Qualifier
L32: (WC) Brydan Klein WR 209 (CH = 169 in September 2015) vs (2) Norbert Gombos (SVK) WR 89 (= CH)
The top seed is Victor Estrella. I would venture to suggest that Lloyd stands a chance. According to the ITF, Trungelliti's favourite surfaces are hard & carpet.
