Very briefly - windy day, so not that easy to play. Katy D was excellent for two sets. Gabi was on top before the retirement. Katie B was awful and Naomi played the big points well in a tight match. No idea how the Katie's won their doubles, they were awful for a set and a half. Very big crowd again today - more than yesterday, especially for Naomi's match.

100K SF for the Katies, 50 points each and a little dosh. Not bad at all ! Katie B had currently 3 points coming in so will move up the rankings a bit

A little more info - Katy Dunne, her serve is low 90mph, the majority of players at this level serve around 105mph+, so she does lack a little pace, however she is excellent defensively. Her ground shots have improved immensely and if she could find a little extra on the serve could climb the rankings quite quickly. In terms of the match, Chang had the greater power and created very little errors in sets 1 & 3, but Katy was well on top in set 2 and had several break points. I don't think the toilet break at the end of the second set helped.
Katie Boulter was awful in singles and doubles in set 1 and half of set 2. Her serve was inconsistent and the forehand and returns were very poor.
No sure on the injury in Gabi's match, it may have been a foot injury. The match was really close as Zanevska was very good defensively and got a lot of balls back in court. Gabi broke back in the first set and was well in control in the tie break. The injury came just after the break. Having seen Krunic, Gabbi has a great chance of making the semi finals.
Naomi was roared on by a very partisan crowd(500-600) and played a lot better than yesterday. The movement was better and the backhand was working. Sanchez played well and made it difficult for Naomi. I think Chang is a 50/50 match.
I've not seen Blinkova yet, but she has won easily twice. I think the winner of the tournament will come from the winner of Blinkova v Sabalenka. The latter didn't play as well today and made a lot of errors

in the doubles - Sam Murray was bossing the match and then dropped her levels significantly towards the end of the match. The standard was average.

What did you think of the 16 year-old Canadian supserstar, paulisi?

(and tx for the reports).

 She is 17 now...

Big game, good mover, returns were excellent. Gave the Belarusian a really tough game. If she plays Junior Wimbledon, she will win it.

She was 16 years old yesterday....

Thanks. Never seen her hit a single ball. Interesting to know.

It's an interesting game, tennis....

A couple of months ago Katie B thrashed Gabi 6-2 6-2. She also thrashed Harriet by the same score. This week she's playing 'awfully'.

Last week Gabi went out in the first round. This week she's got two brilliant results.

In the last 6 months, Katy D has barely got a win. And suddenly is playing really well.

Harriet had a completely barren 4 months. And now Heather Watson (amongst others) mentions her as one to watch.

It's a complicated business, being a tennis coach. And indeed part of the federation decision committee. Tennis is not at all linear. Wonder if the next few weeks will throw it up into the air once again...
