Jamie recovered from a break down in both sets (*2-4 in the 1st and *1-3 in the 2nd) to qualify

FQR: Jamie Asanee Praditngam UNR beat Socrates Leon Tsoronis (AUS) UNR by 4 & 4

SC - his opponent was of Greek extraction, as you probably guessed (see also this article from 2011 - http://neoskosmos.com/news/en/Socrates-set-serve-smash-and-soar) so surely Socrates isn't that strange a name (?) He wasn't named after the Brazilian footballer (or "sahker player" as they say over here!), at least

Well done, Jamie !

But this is one of those main draws where 4 Qs play each other, 2 Qs gets an unseeded player, one gets the 7th seed and one gets the 4th seed - and, yes, our guy got the fourth seed, Evan Song (USA) WR 556 .... :(

I did & I almost added yesterday that I bet he was from Melbourne, the city with the largest Greek population outside Greece, but it still strikes me as odd in this day & age.  Then again, he's also an Aussie...

Jamie lost the first set 3-6

But has just run away with 4 games (I think) to take the second set 6-2

There's now an MTO so, presumably, Evan is not on Song today.....
