SC - his opponent was of Greek extraction, as you probably guessed (see also this article from 2011 - http://neoskosmos.com/news/en/Socrates-set-serve-smash-and-soar) so surely Socrates isn't that strange a name (?) He wasn't named after the Brazilian footballer (or "sahker player" as they say over here!), at least

I did & I almost added yesterday that I bet he was from Melbourne, the city with the largest Greek population outside Greece, but it still strikes me as odd in this day & age. Then again, he's also an Aussie...
