Ryan lost the first set 4-6

But is 3-0 up in the second.

Now there's a rain delay.

Playing a pretty top level player, would be great if Ryan could get the second set and force the issue to a third.

I know there's no prizes for second best in tennis but that has to be a very encouraging score for Josh.

Ryan received for the set at 2-5. And got to 0-30 up but... And then served for it at 5-3 but......

So it's now back on serve. 5-4*

Last I heard he was having a scan tomorrow.  Maybe they are waiting until then.  If he hasn't withdrawn yet, hopefully that means it is not too serious otherwise he would have pulled out straight away and not even considered the possibility of playing this week.

Of course it could also be that websites just haven't been updated.

But 'receives' for it successfully the second time - Ryan takes the second set against J-P Smith WR 228

OK, Ryan - time to 'do an Ostapenko' and just go for it !

(Or push the ball back and hope he makes a mistake ....)

Whatever works !!!

Ryan leading 5-4* in the third....

I sort of had the feeling that J-P wasn't going to let this one get away from him.....

Ryan lost the tie-break 3-7

Bet he re-lives that MP ball over in his mind a million times this afternoon.

But big congrats to him anyway.
