taking a look at the in running points today, Nadal clearly hasnt officially qualified - Live Rankings has him a few hundred points off still. But since the Finals have been at the O2, the lowest 8th placed qualifier has had around 4400 points and as of today Nadal has 5200 or so. Pretty much a dead cert Nadal is coming back to London this Autumn.
Similarly, Federer won the first slam of the season. He is on well over 4000 points and as a Slam winner he only needs to make the top 20 (unless more than one slam winner ends up ranked in that 8-20 range, which I dont think has ever happened before). 20th place always ends up with 2000 points or thereabouts .
As it is Election week and the media likes to call these results as they come in, I will call now and say Rafa and Roger are guaranteed as the first two qualifiers for O2, all done bar the official seal of approval.
Andy up to 7th place as well, which is good for now. But if he is to maintain #1 this year, it looks like a Slam is a necessity which to be fair is as it should be.
Well done Rafa anyway, as Fed says it is looking a very interesting second half to the year now.

Fed is playing three tournamants on grass isn't he? So I reckon he'll be qualified on points or very close by the end of it - not that he'll need it as he's won a GS.
With Djoko out, Stan out as well and Andy, it looks like Sam Querrey is currently the last placed qualifier...
I reckon the ATP will be rather praying that they both play.
By the way I believe a Slam winner not in the top 8, provided they attain a certain position (#20?), which they certainly would do with 2,000 points added to the possibles' existing points, would usurp the 8th available man on the list for the O2. Though Carreno Busta would no doubt end in the top 8 anyway ( he's already live #8 ) and Anderson and Del Potro could well do if they win the title.

of course, I'd forgotten that rule. if the US open winner makes the cut rather than big Sam I suspect no one would complain, particularly if it is delpo
I have my doubts about Roger, I certainly expect him to miss the Asian swing. The organisers will be hoping they both make it otherwise we could have a lot of empty seats. Busta V Querrey isn't going to grab the imagination. Another reason to hope Del Petro wins the US Open really Id say.

Live rankings site has recalculated and Zverev is no longer into the Finals, although he is pretty close. Must have got their maths wrong...same for doubles, reassessed down to 2 pairs home and dry, Jamie still got work to do.
I see Thiem has now confirmed his spot. In doubles 6 pairs are now confirmed, after Jamie and Bruno today, the Bryans and Harrison and Venus quickly followed (as GS winners, they are guaranteed a top 20 spot).
Herbert and Mahut must be a lock pretty much also, leaving a fight between Klaasen/Ram, Dodig/Granollers, Lopez/Lopez, cabal/Farah, and Marach/Pavic. Rest are a fair gap behind after that.

Quelle surprise re that site. I do like it's layout and it certainly has its uses, indeed I use it quite a bit as err indicative. But it does make a lot of errors, some awful and some constantly repeated ( no, doubles men do not get an automatic 10 points in men's mandatory events so that every time they have to revise first round loser points ).
Re the races, they had a women's cut-off that for a time had 7 qualified and both Garcia and Konta able to exceed it by hundreds of points.
