Congratulations to Manisha. 1 point on the slow road back, but it was a good attritional win in a match that lasted nearly 3 hours. Only 3/16 BPs won tells much of the story from Manisha's side. Her first serve percentage and percentage win was good.. Next up could be the 3rd seed... except she has started by falling 2 breaks down to an unranked 15 year old, but current junior #29.
Manisha's remarkable 2017 record continues.
Never failed to get through qualies (though that is not directly relevant for this tournament).
More pertinently, this makes 14 matches against a lower ranked opponent in 2017, and Manisha has won all 14 of them.
Nice to get a tangible point reward, then, to better reflect her record.

Would be good to see Manisha climb up the rankings again. I recall she used to get involved in quite a lot of long battles, more often than not coming out on top.
