I remember something about the run of courts further from the road being more prone to dampness than the run of courts near the road (because they are on slightly lower ground, I imagine). And I think it was especially so for the courts in the lower run near the hospitality tent end.
But that doesn't affect the centre court, obviously.
They had covers for all the courts, from recollection.
But I imagine the centre court is better laid/more recently laid and probably therefore dries quicker.
Can't remember which is court 3 - does anyone know?
Three is the one nearest the hospitality tent. Katie Swan played on it on day one followed by Alexandra Stevenson. Very noisy court with all the people eating and milling around next door. Was not used on day two at all.
Not being used today now, either !
Still 3 matches on the schedule, all on centre court, with Heather up first, not before 14:30. Naomi and Tara is the third match

Thanks for that. I know the one you mean. I'm obviously confused because I could have sworn that one and the one next to it were the ones they had the most trouble with last year in terms of drying out. (Although just possible, I guess, that they relaid it or something, because of that, and so it's actually a lot better now).
Although, as the addict says, they've now ditched that one too....
Been gusty here in the north to plus cold and wet. Feel sorry for those down at Surbiton. Was Manchester one of the coldest tournaments played last year? Particularly in the early part of the week.

There used to be a main tour event in Bournemouth called the British Hardcourts, played on red shale ( like clay but slipper and less true, slightly quicker). Anyway, they played it in April in the mid 80's . April. BBC used to televise it and one year it was so cold it snowed whilst they played, all the players had tracksuits on whilst playing. Crazy. Players these days are soft.
