I also think that they don't pay the +H to quali players so she'll now start getting her board and lodging paid. As will Maia, of course. Which all helps....
No, qualifiers who lose in the first round only get the qualifying points. Win the first round at this level and you would get the extra, so 6+2

Yes, it's interesting how this works (having also been corrected on this recently!). So for 25k tournaments, although you are given 1 pt for qualifying, it is in effect no points, since then you don't pick up the 1 point for being in the L32 that direct acceptances get. But for 25k + H tournaments you do get 1 extra point - 2pts for qualifying vs 1 for L32. And then after that you do get more surplus points for qualifying since L32 stays at 1 point up to 100k +H
The common demoninator is that be it 1 point, 2, 5 or 6 and indeed the higher WTA levels including Slams, qualifiers just get their qualifying points in R1. And then if they win a round or more, at subsequent stages the qualifying points are added on top of the normal R2 etc points.
In men's tennis the normal R1 awards get added to the published qualifying points though until you reach mandatory level that normal R1 points is err 0 so in practice apart from the very top men's level you just get the qualifying points there in R1 too.
