I know I rarely post these days, but still monitor the forum regularly.
This month marks 12 years, since I started this website. Back then in June 2005, a young 18 year old called Andy Murray ranked 300ish in the world had just made the third round of Queens before cramping against Thomas Johansson. Many thought he had a chance of possibly reaching the top 50. Tim and Greg were still going, as was Agassi. Roger Federer had just four slams to his name. Rafael Nadal had just been annointed the new King of Clay, and there were plenty of whisperings about some Serbian kid called Djokovic who was rumoured to be a special talent.
How times have changed!
Thanks to everyone who's helped build this site into what it is now, and continues to do so! Here's to the next 12 years :)
Well thank you for starting it!! It's a terrific resource for those of us interested in British players and I enjoy reading and from time to time contributing to it. But maybe put this in the General Section? I rarely look in the Chat part and only did so because I saw your name and thought it might be something structural about the board as I knew you were one of the early participants.
There are times when I tend to think of this site as my second home. But as I seem to live a nomadic lifestyle and I am rarely in any one place for too long, perhaps this is in fact my first home. Thank you Sheddie for starting the site and to all those mods and contributors who have helped build the site over these 12 years.
Me too. Thanks Sheddie, this resource is invaluable. Also a big thank you to all those who keep us so well informed on here and those who contribute to the many discussions.
An anniversary well worth recognising! It took me a few months to find the forum but it's taking me a lot longer to drag myself away It has pretty much covered the whole of the resurgence of British tennis (as well as nearly all of David's adult life, assuming he has become an adult by now! ), since Tim and Greg started to wane and Andy started to come to prominence, but who back then could have foreseen such a resurgence in GB women's tennis too, let alone the GB men winning the Davis Cup!
Thanks for starting the site in the first place, David - it was the enthusiasm and energy of you and many of the other initial contributors that attracted so many of us and made it feel like a place worth contributing to and making an effort for. The emphasis has changed a bit (there were loads of news articles in the early days), as have many of the most frequent posters as their lives have changed, but hopefully the forum and its offshoots are as popular as they ever were.
