And although you say only one can win the wildcard, the prize money at the Premier events is pretty decent (£1k for the winner, then £600, £300 and £150 going down).
But, as you say too, of the big number of players here, there's a group that are not really concerned by the wildcard/prize money.
Or indeed will have much (any) chance of a quali place at any of the grass events.
With all the events being 100ks, and then the 25ks, there's no room in any of our domestic events for some of these players so what choice do they have? Play a Tour event or two or at least have the experience of trying out an ITF event and seeing the level.
PS Congrats to Emilie Lindh Gallagher (born 2000) on her first ITF win.
You're right, it's an excellent list - should have checked.
(Do wish the opponent's ranking wasn't right next to the GB player though, maybe just me but I find it confusing).
Also, Helen, there's a little error low down - it was Ola Pitak who beat Mia Eklund (not Kasia Pitak, as marked). (Ola is the diminutive of Aleksandra)
However, I do think it's the first time that Alice has beaten two ranked players in the same event, and having done so in consecutive rounds also: QR2, WR941; FQR WR 1156
All signs of progress.
