The draw for the women's singles is out...

www.rolandgarros.com/en_FR/draws/index.html

Jo should be delighted to have nobody inside the top 100 between her and R32. Though there are one or two qualifiers who she might wish on another section.

R1 Hsieh Su-wei

R2 Taylor Townsend/Qualifier

R3 Garcia 28

R4 Radwanska 9

QF Ka Pliskova 2

SF Halep 3

F ?

Other than Radwanska in the round of 16, and if Halep is fit you might prefer to avoid her half, but otherwise that's a very inviting draw, if Jo can find her best form.

I counted 13 spaces for Qualifiers in the Main draw and only 12 Qualifiers due to proceed, so unless I have miscounted there must be a LL spot

Heather 3rd in line so unlikely to make it.

Heather was around 10th in line at start of play (if the top seeds all lost), but Jabeur and Zanevska have already out, so no chance.

She needs to be in the top 4 seeds losing in the final round of qualifying to go into the LL draw.

I think a decent tournament for Jo this year would be to at least reach the 4th round.

That's a great draw for Jo - and deserved after being unlucky in the other big clay tournaments. Garcia in R3 would be tough, but Radwanska is out of form and doesn't like clay.

Qualifiers placed. WR196 Kato in Jo's subsection is fine.

Ons Jabeur has the first LL spot.

Heather did make the LL draw and will be in the draw for any additional LL spots that come up.

Anybody know if they now draw one from the three remaining top four? Or do they add the fifth best, and draw one from four again?

I thought they drew all four at the beginning (i.e. a couple of hours ago) so the four are now in a list and if there's another spot they just take the second one on the list.

Presumably listed at random. Otherwise, if the top Qseed knows there's a LL spot available and guaranteed, it would be in their interest to save energy by deliberately losing; particularly if playing a lower-ranked compatriot or very close friend.

No, I didn't mean that the list was done before the matches were played.

I mean that at the end of the FQRs, they take the top 4 losing qualifiers and then do a draw for LL spots. So that, then and only then, the order 1-4 is known.

Doubles entry list and speculation...

www.tennisforum.com/1198-doubles-forum/1238218-2017-roland-garros-doubles-list.html

Jo sits out. 3 US/UK partnerships...

Naomi + Sanchez, who IIRC, was Jo's doubles partner at the time when her results, doubles first, suddenly improved in 2015.

Heather + Rogers, miraculous R-G in 2016

Anna + Brengle, are third ALTS, tied with the second ALTS.
