That's rough. Hope it gets better quickly.

Dan is forced to retire. Such a shame, who was really looking positive and in complete control.  He hobbled off court, despite having been heavily strapped by the trainer.   He won't be playing next week.   Apart from his excellent play, the other positive is that he can enjoy a beverage. The alcohol will promote vasodilation and improve bloodflow to the affected area. works for me every time!

very worrying moment, I think Dan's calf has gone. will be suprised if he can continue.

Yes, must have been his calf, trainer strapped most of his lower leg. So Dan retired at the score I posted a few minutes ago, after looking comfortably in control.

That is absolutely gutting, so close to the (probable) end of the match as well. Hope Dan can recover in time for Wimbledon, which might be a stretch if it's muscular.

Dan was cruising the match as well - no chance he will play Nottingham or Queens...

Gutting cryno

Hope he's feeling better soon, and certainly that he's fit for the US Open, since I'll be there in person as the board's roving reporter biggrin

It's so horrible when players get injured.....

It was Dan's calf before, wasn't it? The same leg?

Devastating for Dan. No time is a good time to get injured, but when you are building up for a string of tournaments on home soil, and on a surface you love to play on, it just makes it all the worst. We can only hope that this is a minor injury and that Dan will be back sooner rather than later.

I thought it was the knee, not sure which one.

Yes pretty certain it was his knee back in 2013, very disappointed for him. It would be good to hear him commentating if he is not fit for Wimbledon! Never boring.

Sugita won the final in two breakers, good week. Already in main draw at SW 17

SW17 - the Tooting Bec open? I'm surprised he entered.
